Ladies Missions Homeless Mats:
The ELMS ladies create mats by cutting and looping plastic grocery bags into plastic yarn called “plarn.” Plarn is used to crochet warm, waterproof mats that can be used as ground cover to stay dry or as a warm cover to block the wind and cold. It takes between 500 to 600 plastic bags to produce one mat.
Special Thank you to Kim who worked to crochet this mat together. There is a lot of work and time put in to make a mat.
Thank you to the Rock Falls Police Department for taking the homeless mats. Thank you to Officer Nolte and Sgt. McKanna for collecting the mats.
